Supergrade red rooibos, cocoa shells, Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar. No added flavourings.
Plants, origin and composition
Soie de Minuit Rooibos combines supergrade red rooibos, cacao husks and Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar, with no added flavourings. Rooibos, Aspalathus linearis, grows in the Cederberg region of South Africa; its needles are fermented and then sun-dried, giving them their red colour and woody flavour. Supergrade refers to the finest needles, with few stems. This rooibos tea is naturally caffeine-free, making it a true evening drink.
Organoleptic profile and liquor
The liquor is a deep mahogany red. The nose is indulgent: cacao, vanilla, soft wood. On the palate, the cup is round and velvety; the cacao brings a dark, almost roasted note, while the Bourbon vanilla extends the finish with supple sweetness. No bitterness. This cacao vanilla rooibos can be enjoyed plain, or with a dash of milk for an even gentler cup.
Brewing protocol and storage
Use 3 g for 20 cl, boiling water at 100 °C, 6 to 8 minutes. Rooibos can withstand a long infusion without bitterness: the longer it brews, the more pronounced the cacao becomes. For a latte version, infuse 6 g in 10 cl of water, then top up with 15 cl of warm milk. Keep the tin closed, away from light and heat, to preserve the vanilla.
