A cup designed as a complete object for infusion: cup, ceramic filter and lid brought together in one set.
Inspired by the Lanting Xu, one of the major works of Chinese calligraphy, its surface combines calligraphed characters, seals and decorative motifs in a deliberately patinated finish.
This ceramic tea cup brings together a cup, a removable filter and a lid in a single object.
Its decoration draws on the Lanting Xu, the Preface to the Orchid Pavilion, and echoes the aesthetics of traditional Chinese calligraphy and seals.
The ivory surface, punctuated with caramel brown nuances and dark blue and ochre motifs, has a slightly irregular texture reminiscent of old objects.
The ceramic filter is pierced with many small holes to hold the leaves back while allowing direct infusion in the cup.
Once the infusion is complete, simply remove the filter to enjoy the tea directly from the cup.
About the finish:
High-temperature firing can produce slight variations in tone, texture and glaze distribution.
The caramel nuances, small dots, surface irregularities and differences in colouring visible from one piece to another are inherent to this type of finish and are not defects.
Each piece may therefore show slight variations.
